Who Is Kim Ondaatje The Inventive Life of a Canadian Artist

Toronto-born Kim Ondaatje has led a life dedicated to creative expression. Her paintings have appeared in galleries throughout Canada and internationally; they are part of the permanent collections of several major galleries across Canada, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery. In 2008, the University of Toronto Art Centre held a major retrospective of her work, "Kim Ondaatje: Paintings 1950-1975." She has published books of her photographs, Small Churches of Canada and Toronto, My City, and one of her films, Black Creek, is part of the National Film Board collection. Ondaatje is the recipient of multiple grants and awards including a Governor General’s Award for cofounding Canadian Artists Representation (now CARFAC). Final Canvas, an eight-acre environmental landscaping project honouring artists and writers, was featured on the television series "Recreating Eden" and included in the book Artists’ Gardens.
